Children's Liturgy
At the present time, if you want to access some online resources for your children, see
https://cafod.org.uk/Education/Children-s-liturgy for weekly virtual sessions - registration required so leave some time to do this. Sessions run at 10am on Sundays.
Ordinarily, our children’s liturgy program runs during the 10am Sunday Mass most weekends in term time.
At the beginning of Mass the children between age 4 and taking their First Communion are led out of church by a leader and an assistant, both DBS checked. This allows the parents to stay in the church for Mass for their own liturgy. They start with a little prayer introducing the focus of the day and lighting a candle. The Gospel Acclamation is sung, before a children’s version of the gospel of the Mass being read out. This is followed by discussion and reflection of the gospel reading. An activity normally follows which is related to the gospel readings and the message for the day. Our liturgy is then concluded with some intercessory prayer before the children are led back into Mass in time to take part in the Offertory Procession.
We have a dedicated board in the church showing the children’s involvement.
We would love to welcome more children.
Also, if you're new to the Parish and have young children please make yourselves known to Fr Charles or any member of the Children's Liturgy Team before or after the 10am Sunday Mass.
